Background: The Sand Foundation is an art collective originally coined by Naim Nahshid, along with the four founding youth members being Sadaqa, Ayah, Naim and Diaab. We currently have an art space located in the Nasr City area of Cairo, Egypt, more specifically Hay Al 3sher. This space was created in the heart of the neighborhood to spark creation and also engagement with the local Egyptian, Sudanese, Nigerian, Ghanaian community via Hip Hop. When Asmaa contacted me about shooting a video in Cairo, I immediately thought about documenting the great works of the Sand Foundation, because most of it was created by Black youth, and that’s what this song is all about. . . .
